Level of Knowledge per User

Problem:
Very often the knowledge of a user is unclear in the first post.
I often do not know at which level to reply (Later it becomes clear).

Solution:
Would it not be easy for the person replying to the post, to directly see the level of knowledge (Access for example) of the requestor? This makes it so much easier to determine the level used in the first reply.

Suggestion is to have a coding per user, in his/her CP, which refers to his/her design knowledge of the application. This coding appears for every post. He or she can modify it according to the knowledge at every moment.

Example of Code buildup= Xxxx
Part X represents: L=Learning; A=Average; H=High
Part xxx represents = tbl;rel;qry;frm;rpt;sql;mod
(Rel = relationships)

This would give a personal code like:
Tbl Rel Qry Frm RPT SQL MOD
H - H - A - A - A - L -L

Just a suggestion to make mutual understanding a lot easier.

And who decides what our level is? Many are too ignorant to know how ignorant. I thought my Excel knowledge fine until I came on the forum and found that I was as thick as two short planks,

The user gives him/herself a report grade per section, and adjusts it as he/she goes along.
It could be an enchouragement to learn, and eventually to upgrade ones report figure, but mainly it should serve as a reference for the person who is trying to help out.

I agree with Brian. A user could not rate their knowledge because many users have no idea of the full extent of knowledge. So many times when I thought I was starting to really get my head around stuff only to turn a corner and find a vast scope I had never encountered before.

It is also far too simplistic to expect a simple code to reflect the diverse range of knowledge on a particular subject within a topic.

When it comes to VBA code there is a huge range of subsections where a user could be extremely well versed yet have no idea at all about something like constructing a custom class and integrating it with other objects.

They might know a lot about using DAO recordsets but have never worked with the intracies of ADO connections and producing disconnected recordsets from text fields to display in forms. What ranking should they give themselves then?

Better they give a bit of information on what they know about the question they are asking but most importantly what they have tried. This generally gives a good clue to the extent of their knowledge in the area.
