Like in a DSUM statement not working

The following line doesn't work. I've tried everything I can think of. It will work if I take the word Like out of it and insert a full word instead of the *. There is no error message, just a blank field. I tried it in a query grid and it works as expected. Any ideas?

=DSum(" [LineValue] ","qry_Contracts","[lu_Type] = 'Like C*' AND [ApprovalDate] > 0 AND [lu_Project]=[FORM_ProjectUID]")

Try this

=DSum(" [LineValue] ","qry_Contracts","[lu_Type] like 'C*' AND [ApprovalDate] > 0 AND [lu_Project]=[FORM_ProjectUID]")
