hi all,

My problem is similar to few posted here, yet different.

What I have is a search form, with 3 combo fields, 2 of them are unbound one (Producers, Group) another one shows results (Material Name).

At the moment I can pick a vendor and see all the products from it, I can limit the search to particular group from this vendor as well and vice versa.

The problem is in the combos I have all the names for Producers and Groups, what I want to do is something like this:

user picks a vendor in one combo in another he has only the group items for this particular vendor not the whole list and vice versa.

Please take a look at this sample, and throw me some bone here :)

Sorry for different language, had no time to translate, if it's a hughe problem I'll do it tomorrow.

Thanks is advance.

Could you make one combo box's row source based on query that uses the other combo box as a criteria?

???

Hi Ken,

You mean some sort of cascading boxes?

I've tried but I wasn't succesfull, I could play around with this little more, do you think this might be the best way?

Worth a try. If you get hung up, post a sample db and we'll give it a look.

Ill make a quick example of what he means for ya.

Here is an example of what he mentioned.

Take note of the VB code, and the record source of the items combo box.

P.S. Ken you're right again, Cheers.

Thanks - But it's more important that your stuff works than me being right. Been wrong in the past, will be wrong again...

Being wrong is a human thing, they say, in this case - everybody is satisfied ;)

Here it goes again,

Cracked one thing, stuck with another,

The search form works fine, what I am doing now it's implementing it in another form.

In my database Product contains of particular Material, thus the search subform has (MaterialID, MaterialName, Group, Vendor).

Main form and subform are linked with ProductID relationship.

Subform has a search engine.

Sample is better than description so there is one. It doesn't work fully but will give you the idea.

Open a form "for_wyroby1" and pick something from "grupa" combo go through clicking yes, (sorry for that step-by-step instructions) pick something eg. "konektor" and pick something from "nazwa" combo. As you can see you can add more items, but the "grupa" combo acquire previous value.

How Can I lock it and be able to pick another group in new item.

I am using continous type of subform, because I want to add few materials to one product, it's done in table "Tab_BOM1" ,

I was thinking about dynamical adding values to a table, don't know so cofused here.

Any suggestions are highly appreciated.

Cheers
