I need to see if any of you can give me some info regarding Linked OLE objects. Currently, I have a database that has a tabbed page with 8 text fields which are OLE objects. I have a button for each field in order to insert whatever type of attachment is needed and the icon of that application is then linked and displayed. The folder I plan on storing these documents will eventually be on a network drive with certain security rights. In the table where these objects are stored, the field is labeled with whatever type of document is in the link, ie.."Microsoft Word Document". My question is, what happens to the link if for any reason the folder is moved, or is renamed? For example, my company recently mapped a new hard drive to everyones computer and moved the data from one hard drive to a new hard drive with a differant name and Letter. So the path is the same, just the drive letter has changed. Would this create a issue for already linked documents? I tried testing this out myself, but I found that wherever I moved the folder on the drive, or renamed it, the link still seemed to be working. The only way I was able to create an error was if I deleted the files completely. Restoring the files seemed to re-establish the link. For some reason this doesn't seem right. Any info would be great. I am indeed a newbie.
