Howdy,

I have a general knowledge of Access but no knowledge of linking it with Outlook or other external programs, but here's what we want to do.

I am setting up an access database to control information on who has checked out items from our stash. We have a Barcode scanner that can be used to scan our employee badges.

The number on the badges corresponds to the "Worker ID" field under the Organization tab of each person's properties within the Exchange address book.

What we want to do is somehow be able to swipe a person's card, have it read the number into a field in our form and then be able to do a search to the address book to pull down the person's name, phone number, etc.

Can anyone tell me how to do this or point me to something that would give me this info?

Thanks!!

I stumbled upon that and did the following...

File / Get External Data / Link Tables (it's way to huge to import)

Chose Exchange() under the Files of Type area...

Then I chose the Global Address Book.

So that much of it worked OK.

Only problem (and maybe it's been customized and I'm SoL) is that the particular field I want wasn't listed.

It went from Firstname, lastname etc. The field I was looking for was Worker ID under Organization. Is this a standard field or maybe it was something added later.

Hmm.
