Hello,

I am curious to know how difficult it is to create a access DB, and convert it to HTML for use on an intranet.

I have been told that the best way is to create a SQL DB, and write some ASP code to link the HTML file to it. I don't know ASP, nor SQL.

I am very intelligent, and have taught myself many programs including some VBA recently. I have a very good understanding of structured language, and can research fairly well to find answers/samples.

I guess my real question is; is there a way to link an Access DB to a webpage, without me having to learn ASP? If yes; how. If no; in your professional option, do you think someone could teach them self the tools necessary to accomplish this with, let say a ASP for dummies book?

I understand this thread is kind of an ASP question; but if there is a way to do this without ASP, I would rather do that.

:D Thanks,

I don't know if there is a way to do what you want to do without ASP. For what it's worth, I was in a similar situation six years ago. I knew a lot about MS Access, a little about web technology, and nothing about ASP. I went out to Barnes & Nobel and bought a book called "Active Server Pages in 21 Days" (part of the Sam's Teach Yourself series) and used it as a reference while I attempted to web-enable an Access database. I fumbled and struggled but in the end, I was able to create a nice front end for the database. Depending on the size and scope of your project, you don't need to used SQL Server and can use Access as your back end database.

Thanks for your reply, and I am looking into the ASP.NET 2.0 All-In-One Desk Reference For Dummies. Do you think this will guide me in the right direction, or do you recommend another series?

Hi sven,

I bought a MS book some months ago

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Database-De...=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1213690195&sr=1-6

I bought it because of its focuses on using Access opposed to another database system. As yet because i am branching in so many directions and the project i was working on didn't take off, i have only read elements of it. As of right now there is a copy for sale at £4.17. I work better from books than struggling to find decent tutorials on the net.
