i have a problem.
i am using Access 2002 and a database in 2k format.
the tables are linked to a database in 97 format.

however, i have found that the paths are set with drive letters, and users accessing from other locations access different servers with the same drive letter, hence i need to use UNC paths to specify absolutely.

However, i have tried 2 methods for changing this:
1. solution found here (also described here

2. editing the MSysObjects table

neither work for me...
the first i can edit, but as soon as I have edited, it switches right back to show the drive letter
the second, it will not allow me to edit : "control can't be edited; bound to replication column database", even if i open Exclusive.

pls help....

using the UNC should still work even though the drive letter shows up in the dialogue box while you type it. My suggestion:

Disconnect the mapped drive and then enter the UNC. Then re-establish the mapped drive either manually or via login script.

thanks for the v swift reply kodo but that didn't work for me.
however, i DID solve it - and using the Linked Table Manager too!

selected all "problem" tables, check "always prompt for new location", when dialogue comes up enter the UNC path to mdb file and hit "OK".

never thought it'd work, but that's a good design and i'm happy again (and so are my users!!!)
