linking to a record

I have a form based on a query that shows records stored in it. I want to make a link on the form so that when the link is clicked it takes you to the specific record in the original form.
I have managed to do this on other forms by creating a command button that opens the required form, but when I try and do it on this form it does not work. Is it becasue it is based on a query? Any help is appreciated.

Do you have a primary key in your query? What I mean is do you know which record your pulling up...
