LinkMasterFields property error

I have done this SOOOO many times before with no problems, now, on the LAST form in this package, I get this message:

The LinkMasterFields property setting has produced this error: 'A problem occured while MBVPainting Additional Work Authorization was communicating with the OLE server or AxtiveX Control'

What I am trying to do is create and maintain line items for a master document (work order line items). The message occurs when I enter a value in the first editable field of a new line item record. I notice that the field that should contain the value of the master table (work orders) is not updated either.

Suggestions?

Perhaps the record in the main form is not updating properly so then the subform can't do it either.
