I have an MS Access DB, that uses a list box to give users a view of the possible selections to choose among.

It works great, but the database has grown to the point there are nearly 3,000 items in the list box.

I found that if you type in the first letter, it will take you to the first alphabetically in the list with that letter.

So if I type in "A" it takes me to "Aardvark". But even this could use improvement, as typing in the first letter with 3,000+ selections means the users may scroll a few hundred to find what they are looking for.

Is there any code, or property setting that can set it up, so the users can type in the entry and it will narrow it down?

So if they type in "AS" it goes to "Assumption" rather than "Aardvark" then jumps to "Sail" (as it does right now).

Thank you for your help,

Would it be possible to change your listbox to a combo box, that way they can type in and the selections that match will appear based on what was typed in. Just an Idea.

Thank you for the response.

Hmmm, I will ask the users which they would perfer of the two (explaining the advantages/disadvantages of both).

Do you not believe it to be possible through the list box?

I do not know, that is for the gurus, but I know from experience my people loved the combo box. The reason is...they type in... Adven..and the words...Adventure, Advent..etc will come up.

When I had to change one from a combo box to a listbox, they got upset due to losing the ability to type in their selection. Oh well, where I am at..I am the Access Goddess..so they were stuck..Muhahaha....What a small kingdom I reign.
