We run a number of databases on one of our servers. I always split my databases - some of the front end db's are on each computer and some on the server under different file names. We are running Office 2007, but I had left the databases in the 2003 format. One of our servers was replaced with a virtual server. Since that time some of the backend copies are locking up. They can only be opened in read only format. When I look out on the server the locking file is remaining even though no the database has been closed. I upgraded the databases to 2007 accdb files thinking that may help, but the problem is still occuring. I haven't been able to find a common problem that is making the databases lock up and stay locked. The only solution is to reboot the server. Unfortunately this can only be done in the evening or early morning since there are about 100 people using that server. Any suggestions to help stop this problem. I am really not wanting to upgrade everything to SQL at this point, but haven't been able to find any other solutions online.
