Sorry to ask a really stupid question. But how do I get my properties menu back? I seem to have lost it. If I right click on an object or press F4 it still remains hidden. It is not behind the form object either. Any suggestions please?

Just make sure you're in the design mode of a form, query, etc.
Right click on the object should give you the properties of that object.

I am affraid that is why I have asked the question. I am in design view. Earlier when I was designing a form I moved the properties window over to the right and it just seemed to have disappeared. No matter how far over to the right I go I can't find anything... right, up, down etc. It has gone!

What version of acces do you use ?
And are you in an *.mdb.

I am using 2002 and I am in a *.mdb - No fields on the form this form though. However, no matter which database I load I still have the same problem. I can't get the properties window in forms (or reports for that matter). Is there some sort of global rest button or can it be rest with some vba code?

OK, try this :

Go to your form in design mode.
Go to view> proprties and the proprties window should open.

No it doesn't!!

That's exactly where I started. I was in the middle of designing a form when I moved the property window out of the way and I haven't seen it since. I really can't understand what has happened.

Have you tried rebooting your computer since?

Yes many times now. I am really at a loss to know what to do next. It's not database specific so it must be to do with my setting?

You might try this :

Open a blank database.
Go to : tools > start up > advanced and make sure all items are checked like :
- allow full menu
- allow default shortcut menus
- etc

The go to : tools>customize > toolbars tab > properties and ensure that all items are checked like :
- allow customizing
- allow resizing
- etc.

First thanks to everyone who has assisted me with this one. Just to round things off. I reinstalled Access which made no difference. Taking on board the point that it might be due to screen resolution (I am working on a low spec display laptop 1024 x 768) I output the display to separate screen. I could not change the resolution but playing aroud with the display I managed to have the properties window on the screen when I pressed F4 and the form design on the laptop. Eventually, jiggling this and that I managed to bring the two together.

So it works now.

So the property sheet was there all the time, but it got outside your "window".

Anyway, glad you sorted it out.
