So I have thought about this and I am not sure that its possible at this point.

I have created a million reports that have sub reports to show multiple rows of data for a particular record. Now I want to see if that’s possible with a Mail Merge.

I might have a table that looks like the following:

Name Function
1 1
1 2
1 3
1 4
1 5
1 6
1 7
2 1
2 2
3 1
3 2
3 3
3 4

Is there a way to create a merge in Microsoft word that would understand not to duplicate the names, and simply add in the Functions under the name?

I know I can create a query that allows for Functions to be all in one row, but that’s not dynamic enough as I might have 50 functions for each name etc.

I hope this is making sense lol

Thank you!

I'm having exactly the same problem - authors with many outstanding documents that I want to send a single mail to with all their outstanding documents.
I don't suppose you found a solution?

Cheers!

Mailmerge does not support this at all. You can get it done if you use automation to populate the bookmarks. I create a bookmark for the "subreport". In code, I create a string that concatenates all the data. I insert the string at the special bookmark. While the string is still selected, I then change the string to a table and then format the table if necessary.
