Masking Fields

Question 1
I am writing this report that will break down students by graduation year and then divide them by whether they are actively using tutoring or not. My active field is a true/false checkbox. How do i change it in the report to say inactive
instead of having it be a checkbox?

Question 2
All my data is also divide into permanent and temporary students. Can i concantenate active and inactive student so i can get just a total of active students that gives me a break down of temp and perm students and then jsut a total of all active students.

In my head it should look liek this

2009
Active
Temp students 25
Perm Students 30

Inactive Students 10

Total Students 65

Please help! I hate reports
