Mass Emails from Access

I recently posted a question in the REPORTS section asking if it was possible to generate a report that contains only the email addresses of my contacts to generate and send a mass email. There were no responses to that...so that makes me ask - Is there anyway in Access to generate mass emails using only the email address field in a table or query?

I am aware of other programs you can buy to do that - but was hoping to stay within Access.

Thanks for any help!

Some of us have an inherent dislike for telling people on this forum how to generate spam. Even if that was not your intent, the problem is that to answer your question, we have to tell others how to do it, too.

But heck, you MIGHT be legit. The way to do this most directly requires that you have Outlook installed and a mail server that will deign to talk to Outlook. Like an Exchange server, but there is a way to make Outlook talk to IMAP and POP3 servers as well.

Then in a code module, you need to assure that you have a reference to the Outlook object library or libraries. You are going to have to write some VBA to load up the properties of an Outlook object and then trigger a couple of methods that have the result of sending mail.

Search this forum for the topic of "e-mail" and "sending e-mail" to see probably at least several dozen threads on using object automation to create a message, fill in the address list, and trigger the send. I don't know if you or are not a spammer, but I'll go as far as to give you that hint and let you do some leg work.

Make sure if you are sending mass emails that you don't publish the entire recipient list with the email, so at th evry least use BCC field rather than the To Field.

Thanks....

Thanks for your responses. No, not spamming - but I understand your concerns. I am an Event Manager and have to send out informational emails to people who have registered for a specific event throughout the year via email and snail mail.

I usually export my email query into excel and concatonate to form a string and then just put it into BCC - but you can only do 30 at a time and I usually have about 300. So, just looking for an easier way.

I did search the forum before posting but didn't see anything relevant - or understandable! ha ha

Thanks anyway...

This is not that hard to do. Make sure you hava reference set to the Outlook library and just create a mail item and use its properties to add you recepitent and message and then send the emal.

Some people don't realise that the judicious use of emails can have great benefits to a business. We sold over £100,000 through one email.

I use objCDOMail.Send rather than Outlook is avoid that stupid Security Message and to ensure a time out doesn't occur. You need to load IIS on the PC's wanting to do the mass emailing. You also need a query to I prefer a Selection screen to filter to targeting clients who are going to receive the emails.

If you need so code let me know

Simon
