Medical Chart Database

I am a doctor with a knoledge of computer greater than most of doctor. Even though i use a company for part of my office managment, i would like to develop a small database as a project, that can save my patient charts and i though that microsft access should work for this (please correct me if i am wrong, and also let me clarify that i have not use access),

This is what i want, when i dictate a patient chart i do it on a word document template, if i take pictures i save them as jpeg in zoombrowser, and other material is safe as pdf in paperport. Would it be possible to develop a database that will combine this on for example a record called Peter smith # 1234, and when i find this patient, it will have folders like chart, photos, bills, etc

You can do this with access pretty easily. If I get it right, you'll need a single table that has an attachment field and some other fields if you want to keep extra data. Drop that on a form and access will handle the search and navigation parts.

...However, if I get you right, you only want to have a place where all files get together in a structured way that's easy to use... I would strongly suggest you take a look at this:

I don't work for this company, I won't get a dime for what I'm about to say, but it's software designed to do exactly what you ask and more. Furthermore, it's fast, easy, intuitive and it uses technology that makes it easy for your brain to find your way. To link information together, I haven't seen anything better.
