Membership calculating time and date

Last time I used Access it seems to it doesn't really handle time?
I have 2 needs.

1) A member comes in to register he's on site and using the facility. At that point I need the screen to calculate weather he's within his 1 year annual membership. If not throw a flag like highlight RED or something. It would be cool to warn him he has so many days left.

2) He has to enter the arrival time and departure time. How should I handle that from the table point on?
