Hello Everyone,

I have an access file (a Form) that I put in the network and it's accessable thru a web site inside our company(intranet). I setup the database to be on shared mode so everyone can access it at the same time. The problem I'm having is that when someone open the file, access creates another file called "Microsoft Access Record-Locking Information" which still active even after users close the form and their web browser and this doesn't allow me to edit the file if I need to make changes. Is there a way to deactivate this record-locking file? The only way I found out to be able to access the file after someone used it, is having the user go into their Task Manager and delete MSACCESS.EXE from the Processes tab. Any inputs would be greatly appreciated.

RuralGuy,

Would it matter where they save their copy of the FrontEnd? Can I just e-mail them a copy and ask them to save it to their desktop? Remember that I just want them to access this form by going to the web site and clicking on the link that opens the database.

So...you are using Data Access Pages? That is a completely different architecture that the links I supplied.

No, it's an access database that when you open it a form pops up. What I did I loaded the file to the web site. I just tried also what you suggested and still have the problem with the locking record. I had one of my end users download the front end of the file to his desktop, but when he opens it still creates the locking record and I'm not able to access the file if I want to make changes. Should I create an access page?

Does anyone know why this record locking file still running even after the users have closed the form? Is there a way to get rid off them?
Please advise!!

thanks,

Pablo

The locking file is to remain until the last user closes the db.

Thank you but I'm giving up on this. As a work around I will update the web site to have users download the database instead of using it online. This way I don't need to worry if the users are closing the database completely or not.

Thanks !

Pablo
