Monthly reports

It has been a while since I used this forums but it is a good one. My question is:
I want to run a monthly report using a query where I don't have to go to the query each month a change the dates to get the current month. Is there a way to do this. I also want to set up a switchboard that will run query with the current month's information. I hope that this is understandable. I have lost myself. My reports are based on how many clients enrolled into program for each month. Thanks for any help offered.

what format is the date field ie 01/01/01 or Jan '01 etc

The method described allows the user to specify any month/year and return records pertaining to the specification.
