I am using MS Access 2003 on Windows XP.

When I am in Design mode of a form, I am trying to open the "More Controls" from the Toolbox. It is not displaying the list. It is not coming back with any error. When I go onto the C:\Windows\System32 folder, I see the OCXs and the DLLs that I am needing to access.

Our Helpdesk personnel is also finding this issue on all of our machines. They are all Dells. The C:\ drive is pretty secure.

Is anyone experiencing this issue?
Could this be a security issue?
What should I check?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!!

1. You may not have had a full installation of Access. If IT just does a "TYPICAL" install, many things don't get installed. You have to do a CUSTOM install in order to make sure all gets installed.

2. I would avoid the use of ActiveX Controls AT ALL COSTS. So unless you absolutely have to have something (you are just thinking of putting something in because it looks cool or can't be done by other means), DON'T. It is a pain to keep all machines up to date with the same ActiveX controls and over my 14 years of using Access I have found it really isn't worth the hassle. Of course if you absolutely need them then you might need to create an installation for each computer to copy the file to and register the file you are using so that they can use it.

Again - did I say it wasn't worth the hassle??? :D
