Here is a question.

I go to the menu bar, Help->About MS Access

It's shown Microsoft Access 2002 SP3

This is MS Access 2002 Version, right.

But, at the top it is shown (Access 2000 file format)

Why do I use 2000 file format in Access 2002 version?

I think cos there is not really an Access 2002

Yeah, some considers the 2002 (xp) version of Access the final SP of the 2000 version ;-)

In 2002/2003 version the 2000 format is default. You can convert (Toos | Database Utilities | Convert Database) and/or set new default for next new database (Tools | Options - Advanced tab, Default File Format combo)

If you convert, I don't think those who are still using the 2000 format can open the file.

Actually you can set XP, 2003, and 2007 to work in compatible mode. This means that you can, if you are using the 2000 mode then it leaves it compatible for other users who don't have the other versions. This is directly related to the fact that you couldn't do this between 97 and 2000, nor 95 and 97, or 2 and 95.
