Multiple Subtotals for 1 Group

I need to have multiple subtotals for a group.

I know I can add group subtotals, but that will break up the materials into different sections. What I am looking for is both the subtotals together leaving the material together.
A short example of what I mean is this.

Type Material Cost
liquid Coke 1.00
liquid Pepsi 1.00
Pack Box 3.00
Pack crate 6.00

Subtotal liquid 2.00
subtotal Pack 9.00

If I put a where clause in a report would this be better placed in the on open event? Or do you have a different idea?

In that case what you want is a subreport in the Group's Footer section. The subreport's record source will be a totals (sum) query that will sum per type for each group. Link the subreport to the group ID.
