My Boss fears Replication

Hello all,

I'm trying to implement a replicated database for users in the field. However, my boss, who knows little about these things, is afraid that we'll be losing data somehow. I'm trying to reassure him that this won't happen (often anyway).

Can someone explain to me how Access keeps from overwriting the most current data in the master?

Also, I would like to use a sequentially incremented autonumber. Access changes all autonumbers to random. Duplicate ID's shouldn't occur in this situation. Can I change the ID's back to incremement? Or should I leave it and do something else.

Thanks for you response, Pat. That clears up a lot. I'll tell my boss that you said it was safe

I've read posts on this and the idea of random ID#'s in replication makes sense. Rich set me straight on this once too.

One thing though...
While the replicas will be updating records, in this case, they will NEVER be adding records (ID#'s). All ID#'s will be added in the master only. Therefore, I don't see duplicate ID#'s as an issue . Even so should I just go w/ the "force" here?
