Mysql Apache server

Following directions on a YouTube to get my Apache server working, we were going into the command prompt and setting up administrative access. We were at the line
C:\windows\system32>net user administrator *
Type a password for the user:
It would not take any letters or numbers. After a couple of tried I hit enter and it gave error 5.
Anybody know what went wrong?

Here's a guess. Try "root" went it asks for a password
