Hi

Office 2007 Enterprise SP3
WinXpPro SP3

I have a scrolling issue. Whenever I try to select an object from the Access navigation pane, the pane automatically scrolls further up or down its list with the result that I click the wrong object. I have tried viewing the pane with all 3 options i.e. details, icon and list, same problem.

I've seen a ton of threads out there describing this issue most of which suggest going up to Office 2007 SP2.. I'm on SP3 already. There is also mention of a hotfix.... kb/973405 ... but this has a pre-req of SP2... it also says it does not fix the problem when in List view (my preference)... so I have not installed it

Any advice please?

Thanks

Apologies for bumping this but I still have the issue.. it's incredibly distracting... anyone else experiencing this?

I experience it also but usually when I am in a hurry. It hasn't been enough of a bother to go searching for a solution so please post back if you find one.

Does your application have a lot of objects? Are you working across a network?

If you have a lot of objects, I'm not sure if there is anything you can do but if you are working the the database on a network drive, try moving it to your C: drive to see if you still have the problem. With the database local, you should not experience a lag in the Nav pane.

HI

Thanks for the reply. I've tried a few of my DBs with anything from 30-100 objects using mixes of purely local objects and FE/BE tables (BE on network drive): the unsolicited scrolling is present in all cases but is exaggerated where the greater the number of objects.

I found reference to this KB http://support.microsoft.com/kb/973405/en-us?p=1 which seems to indicate this problem....

After you apply 2007 Office system Service Pack 2, the Navigation Pane in Access 2007 continues to scroll after you release the mouse. This problem occurs when the Navigation Pane is viewed by Details or by Icon, but not by List.

I'm already at Office 2007 SP3 so I'm assuming this will have been bundled in?

Have you tried changing the view to List? That is the view most people use since it is the most compact. The Details view is useless when you have a lot of objects because of all the scrolling it forces and Icon view also takes up too much real estate.

Hi

Thanks for the reply Pat. I've tried all 3 views but no joy. I did, however, find this thread :-

http://www.access-programmers.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=234010

This suggested checking the DPI in the display settings. I prefer my DPI at 125% but I've reset it to 100% and the scrolling issue has gone away. Problem now is I need binoculars to read the screen characters! :)

Thanks

I'm not sure if the issue I had is the same as you describe, but I tried the following and it worked:
Right-Click on the Navigation Pane header. Select Navigation Option from the displayed list. Select Double-Click (if it is not selected) under the option-group 'Open Object with'.

Hi… Sorry for the (very!!) delayed reply….

Thanks for the suggestion… mine was already set to double-click so, in my particular case, it did not resolve the problem….. but thanks for trying to help… cheers
