I've searched the archives and a seemingly simple solution still evades me. I have a report that essentially prints envelopes and has one textbox, control source=fldZip, that prints the USA zip code (5 or 5+4).

I want to also print the postal barcode on the line below based on the value of fldZip (or its textbox). Is there an EASY, FREE way to do this without having to purchase an elaborate barcode program or add Active-X controls. I'm using Ac2K.

I know can do a mail merge through Word to get the barcode printed, but this seems like a round-about way to do a straight forward task. I'm looking for something clean and quick.

I don't need any barcode except the postal code.

This seems like such a common need, someone must have a way to do it with an minimum of difficulty.

No, there isn't.

I'm answering that way because of the constraints you said you didn't want to do.

You don't want to go through a Mail-Merge.

You don't want to go through Active-X.

You want something that is free and easy.

Sorry, you ruled out everything I would have suggested.

Personally, I would go with the Mail Merge myself. But that's just me.

Without any of rpadams's constraints, IS there a free way to do this?

Found a free one

I came across this free program on another board (don't remember which one) but the author name and free use permissions are included in the file I've attached. I've used it and it works fine.

It still amazes me that there aren't more like it out there somewhere.

What version of Access is this?

Tried to open it in Access 2000, had to convert it, gave some errors but appears to work.

Even opening with Access 97 I had to convert it.

It's Access 2.0. Definitely an oldie, but works fine on my 97 machine after converting.
