Goodmorning all, (depending on location)

I have come across a problem with my .accde file. On our computers, we have both 03 and 07 Access installed. There are reasons that we need both. However, this being the case, users with both of these versions installed cannot open the .accde file on their computer. I was wondering if anyone knew a workaround for this problem.

I can open the file fine even though I have both versions installed, but I guess that is because I am the author of the file.

Any suggestions?

I would like to keep it as an .accde file, as that is much much easier to secure than adding passwords to a normal access file for everything.

Thanks,
Rob

normally access tries to open using the last used version

so if you use a2003 it becomes the last used version, and now the .accde version is unlikely to open (ie with A2003) - you just get the "dbs not recognised" message.

open A2007 manually, then the .accde should open ok

no sorry, i tried that and it doesnt work :(

it dhouldnt be, but its not "blocked" is it.

right-click the file in windows explorer, and check properties. see if its blocked for some reason.

i think files get blocked if there form outside a trusted domain

i saved the file as a normal access file, not the accde, and it runs fine. Something about the accde file doesnt agree with having 07 and 03 access installed.

we have similar issues here. but with 97 & 2003

we tend to make users use shortcuts and explicitly name the file to open it with

e.g. "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\MSACCESS.EXE" "\\servername\share\somedatabase.mdb" is a 97 one

and

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11\MSACCESS.EXE" "\\servername\share\somedatabase.mdb"

is a 2003 one
