I have a question about doing a database program in relation to the internet. The following is a layout of what is required:

I've been asked to do a database that takes Customer Orders.

Here is my issue:
After developing the database, what methods should I use to have it connect to the internet to get the Customer Orders?

I do need suggestions. I've not ever had any of the small databases connect with internet. I'm lost and need suggestions.

Thanking you all in advance.

This is quite a common question. I'm surprised you haven't received an answer yet but it is Christmas and I think most people are mopping around with hangovers!

There are several different options. However from your question I think you mean how do you get your MS Access database on the web.

One of the simplest ways is to use something like Citrix, this is where the database remains "MS Access" and remains on a PC. People can log into the PC via the web and use the database just as if they were sat at the desk.

I think Citrix is relatively expensive, I understand there are some free options, if you search through the forum threads you should find threads which mentioned the free options.

It's possible to search access world forums with a special Google page, I discuss it on my website here:-

Just press the green button!

Hi Henry. Are you saying you want customers to place orders online (on a web page)? If so, it would probably be better if you create your database using SQL Server or MySQL (depending on your web server).

Uncle Gizmo:
Thank you so much for your insight. (I also thank you for comments. I laugh sometimes by the comments - I often think people are too business like to add in humor, but for me, it is a GREAT thing. I learn better with relaxed attitudes.)

I will definitely look into getting information about other options. (I am doing my little project for a family florist shop and money is a little tight.

I really hope you enjoyed your holidays.
Keep the good spirit. There are some people that have assisted me in tight moments.
The assistance has been truly awesome.

Thank you again Sir.
