Hi All, I've got a problem that I'm hoping someone can help with. In Australia we have a software group called MYOB. They sell a variety of products, one of which is Retail Manager... Which is based on Access and the one I'm having problems with. My client uses Retail Manager and the network setup is a server machine (working) and two clients. All three machines are less than 6 months old (Dells) and have good specs.
The problem is this; when the the clients are in use, database access is quite fast and no problem for the operators, however, if the machine isn't used for approximately 3 minutes or longer, and the operator then goes to use it again, the first one or two operations are really slow - like it's trying to get into the database again, but from that point on, speed returns to normal - this is quite frustrating for the operators especially in a busy retail environment.
We check the network throughly, deleted and re-shared the database folder, updated NIC (all gigabyt) drivers on all machines installed a new gigabyte switch... i.e all the usual suspects and worked with support from MYOB, but to no avail.
Has anyone come accross a similar problem or have any ideas how I can solve this? Thanks for any advice that you can give.
Cheers,
Grant

Perhaps an issue for server protection and not with the MYOB software. Had trouble with our server with it automatically making back up copies when only a couple of the machines on the network were opening up access files. Took the server techie a while to trouble shoot to which machines but it was the security settings boogering up the speed while it built the backup files.
