Good morning:D

I want to get started on a report today i have read a bit about them but i still am not 100% sure.

i take it that it is a report i want to do anyway!

what i want to do is when the print button on my perscription form is clicked on...a report prints out the details of the prescription eg. patient name, Durgs they have to get, date, the amount of drug etc.(this is all on the form) onto an A5 prescription sheet. I am not sure even how to start this let alone get the name in the correct place on the A5 prescription paper.

Any help would be great!

Thanks a lot
Lyns:D

A report is what you want alright.

Take it from me, the built in Report Wizard is a legend for making reports. I use it to build the basic shape of almost all my reports. It is easy to change/add any aspects you want after that.

ye i have been trying to use the wizard but i cant seem to get what i want! it just doesnt work i dont really know what i am doing though. The wizard only allows you to use info from a table not a form, in my table i dont store the patient name or address or anything like that for security but i need this on my printout as the printout is going onto a prescription sheet.

i am printing the details of the patient and the drugs they have to pick up from the pharmacy straight onto a prescription sheet...like the one you get from the doc...but they want it so they only have to sign it not write it all out.

sorry about the spelling but you get the jift.
thanx for your help though.
I am still stuck any other help!:(

So the patient name and address etc aren't stored anywhere? If I've got this right, I think you will be stuck. If you are worried about security, you can set permissions so that you are the only person who sees the details of the patient if you chose to store their information.

Build the body of your report with the wizard. You can do that such that all that is missing is the name and address? You obviously have a form where you enter the name and address. So in the header of the report put in what ever amount of text boxes you need and have them pull their values from the form.....which will need to be open (obviously).

Disclaimer: I'm still a little slow this morning so this may not be possible. You know, Out too late, up too early, drank too much, and I'm at work :o

oh! dont worry about the patient name and address not being stored their patient number is stored and thats all we need in that table....

but i have ALL their details stored in a different one! so thats cool.
thanx

Ill give the wizard another try but i dont get it! sorry im really this bad!:(

Rich, you lazy Git!

Rich, I'm disappointed. ;)
Lyns, Don't take Rich's 'lazy git' advice. Learn how to create and run reports, you'll benefit in the long term.

You could create a query which pulls the info you need from both of your tables, that way you'd have drug and quantity, date, patient name and address etc. Then use the report wizard and base the report on the new query. Run the wizard a few times and chose different formats. Once you've found the one closest to what you want, customise it in design view. Fizzio's advice is right - it will really help you in the future if you can create your own reports rather than use the wizard.:)

Me again. In the process of trying to find something for myself, I just stumbled across something you may wish to look at. If you have Developer Solutions on your machine (a sample Access database thing), have a look under 'create advanced reports' then choose 'create report for a pre-printed form'. Hope this helps.

Yes, I know a bit of 'Don't do this....... but you can' :D

you guys are billiant! Im having a look at the create advanced reports bit just now im also going to do the qry as i thought that was a brilliant idea. I will let you all know how i get on but again thanxs for all your help!

Lynsey, you should download some of the sample db's from Microsoft to help you, "Solutions" has already been mentioned, try the Queries, Forms and Reports samples as well

yep i will do that rich!thanx!

i have also made a qry and my report looks OK now....the only thing is i need to print it onto an A5 prescription sheet which has set places for things like the name etc.
I cant look up the:

Developer Solutions on your machine (a sample Access database thing), have a look under 'create advanced reports' then choose 'create report for a pre-printed form'. Hope this helps.
