:banghead:Hi All
Just a quick introduction to myself.
I live in North Devon (about a mile from the sea) in the UK and have worked on London Underground (LUL) since leaving the military in 1989 except between 1995 and 1997 where I worked on local authority or prison contracts.
I am a railway telecommunications engineer by profession and gained a Bachelor of Science through the Open University whilst working full time and with a young family.
I am not a programmer but have done some programming in the past as a hobby and as part of my degree, so my knowledge and experience is not extensive.
I started programming in Access about 1992/3 creating a basic database to capture information from service engineers (I was one of them) using the paper forms completed for each service visit - about 40 per day. This was extended to scanned equipment manual pages so I didn't have to carry 40lb of manuals with me in my rucksack everywhere.
I also wrote a small application in 2004 to allow the evaluation of CCTV images to be manually entered by an engineer and capture a snapshot of the cctv image via a machine vision (firewire) image capture device with the intention to sell this to LUL - but never did as I left before it was complete.
I am currently writing what should be a simple database for a local (friends) business to replace a superbase database that currently holds all their client details and job history. Needless to say it has been difficult to obtain the raw data in a format that was useable - still done it now.
I have been using the forum for sometime when I get stuck on how to do something and have found it to be extremely usefull.
Thanks and keep up the good work.
