Hi everyone, my name is Erika and I am an amateur programmer from Italy.
I starting developing my own database in 2004 after I decided no free/commercial program could do what I wanted them to do and decided to write my own (although at the time I did not even know what Access was).
So I threw myself in and since Access seemed to be easy enough, I decided I would throw some nice VBA in the pot as well.

Now, after 8 years, there are new programs which can probably do what I need, but it would not be fun, if I could not get angry any time I finally find a bit of free time to work on my database

The database is now up and running and it finally does what I want it to do (most of the time, anyway ) and I am just polishing and finalizing it.

Of course I am nowhere nearer to grasping how VBA really works than I was in 2004, but I've become a master at copying-pasting-adapting and I hope I can find more inspiration in this forum

Welcome aboard Erica! Out of curiosity, what is it this database of yours does that helps you with anger management?

Hi Sam,

I wanted inventorize all my cds and dvds (fairly specialized collection, though, mainly from Japan)

Sounded fairly easy, at the time :banghead:
Now, 25 reports and 30-35 queries after... and pages and pages of VBA I don't understand.. it sort of became a matter of principle

But I am very happy for the results, although the system still has a couple of bugs (that I know of), but of course it's Access' fault, not mine

One day I will have to find someone who's really a programmer and ask him/her to sort through what I did and slim down the code. It should not be wrong, but I feel it could be rationalized in a better way

35 queries and 25 reports for your DVD collection!! Wow! Now I'm really curious to see what you did there! If you don't mind sharing it here we'll definitely have a look at it and see how to improve it
