New member here. I have lurked for a bit but it seems like I'm going to need more help than I can get just by lurking. I hope to contribute a bit after I learn and practice some.
I'm an intermediate C/C++ programmer at uni. My degree is mostly hardware-related, so I tend to stick to low-level programming in assembly and desktop (almost entirely console) programming in C/C++. However, some of the courses I am getting into require larger projects that are easier to implement using web technologies - thus, my interest in databases. I have also wanted to do a few personal projects on the side for a while now. My ideas are just gathering dust, so learning database design and some back-end web tech is a personal goal.
A side note: I use Access since it is a relatively easy way to visualize and practice database design. I intend to implement projects (academic and personal) on other platforms, which is why I tend to focus more on the design and modelling stuff. I hope this isn't an issue. Advanced Access capability is also a requirement for some jobs I will be applying to in the coming months, so that's a bonus.
