I am kinda new to 2007 and have at the moment a simple database.

I want three things

A: Use the database on a server.

B: Restrict the use to users etc as i used to be a ble to do in Access 97 i think (do i have to make a MDW if so how ?) 9I tried ACCDE but does not seem to do anything)

C: When users use the datavase not see all the normal access editing stuf..

A: Create a Split database, search the forum for tons of examples on this.

B: Can't be done in Access 2007, MS got rid of user level security. If you really want this you will need to develop the DB as an MDB file and not an accdb file.

C: Install the Access 2007 Runtime on the users systems instead of Access, they will be able to run your DB but not be able to create new things.

no 1 & 2 seem ok now i have gone back to the Access 2003 format.

Thanks for the input can you give me some more info on the item 3 the run time installation ?

Thanks

Thanks

I now have almost what i want i used the 2007 runtime and created an install on other PC's seems to work fine.

The only problem is the runtime apps on other pc's do not ask for login & pass word ?

Have i missed somthing ?
