newbie with an access problem

im writing a database, im inputting records through a form, using subject as one field, such as Engish. however, ive written the rest of the database using the subject reference codes, i also need it to use the actual subject names in some reports. is there a way to get it to change the subject name into the subject reference codes? and vice versa. im completly new to access and have very little idea of what im doing any help would be fantastic.

The way I achieve this is by basing my report on a query. In the query I include the table with the data plus the table where you store the subjects. Create a relationship between the key field in the subjects table and the field in the data table where the subject code is. Then you make one of the columns the subject name from the subjects table. That will add the correct subject name to the recordset.
