Very much a newby here.

I have a form with Default View set to datasheet that allows all types of views. The form works fine in development, but when I open it up using a button, it comes up as a form. I tried recreating the form and the button to no avail.

Thanks.

Set it's Default View to Datasheet, as you have done.

Also, if you never want to see it as a form, set the Views Allowed property to Datasheet also.

WOW, that was fast! Unfortunately it still doesn't work though.

I have "Default View" set to Datasheet.

I saw they said something about the ViewsAllowed in help. But I don't see that listed as an attribute. I have "Allow Form/Datasheet/PivotTable/PivotChart View" all set to Yes. I tried setting all of them except for Datasheet to No, but that didn't make a difference.

Where is the ViewsAllowed attribute?

Ah, 2000 or 2002; I don't typically use them myself

I would guess you would set it thus:

Allow Form: No
Allow Datasheet: Yes
Allow PivotTable: No
Allow PivotChart View: No

Wouldn't you think?

It comes up as a Form even when I specifically state that Form is not allowed.

I swear I'd hate Access if I didn't love it so much. :)

I finally figured it out after an hour yesterday and an hour and a half today.

The form needed to be opened using acFormDS in the code as follows:

DoCmd.OpenForm stDocName, acFormDS, , stLinkCriteria

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the info. I'm new with Access and read in the manual that macros were on there way out so we should stick with code to get our work done. I'll have to take a look at them.
