I am working on a new system. Have been given Full MS Access but Link Table Manager fails it gives a standard security warning that this new system enforces it says Opening: C\Prog..Files\MSOffice\Office11\ACWZTOOL.MDE however on selecting OPEN nothing happens. If Cancel is hit then
long critical message saying in short " Can't find wizard , syntax error in delerations in VB. Likewise I cannot link to a spreadsheet without using the manager.

Question is there anything I can do or is it the fact that these are options were not installed and it is an administrators job?

Finally, one that I can answer and Pat can't!

The standard MS install for ANYTHING is designed to minimize the number of help-desk calls. Every call they take on a product still under warranty during the "free" help period is money out of their pockets. So the standard install avoids the things that usually cause the most trouble calls. Pure economics.

No, this is not a guess! As it happens, I teach a class on the subject of Windows security. The WINDOWS default Install suffers from the same exact problem as the Office default Install, and for the same exact reason.

Thanks

Thank you to both of you. As a matter of interest I looked at the forum this morning with a memeber of our site support team and you both backed up what I was saying. I have even been requested to send a screen dump to them. Lets hope I win the battle, 2.5 days and counting since the call was logged.
