I have often wondered how all of you have come up with the nomikers you use underneath your "name". I have been thinking about what I could change mine to.

My thought is that it should say something about how you define yourself. And I came up with something that I think is humorous given the antiamerican slant that some posters seem to have, And yes, I can deal with it. I think it's funny how little we all understand eachother.

So... Please tell here how you came up with your nomiker.

What is my Nomiker - then I may be able to work out how I came up with it?

Yours is "Something in here" currently. LOL

No - I still can't fathom the genius I used to come up with that?

Disclaimer: I find it humorous and hope others see the humor too! :)

"A Connecticut Yankee in King Author's Court"

I lived for 14 years in CT, and in the US, The only people who are Yankees are those from New England, So I am greatly amused by the use of "Yanks" for all Americans on this site.

For a long time, mine said 'Humanoid' - I can't remember why I chose to put that in there. I changed it the other day, for no particular reason.

As a piece of UK slang, 'Yank' does tend to mean any American. It's only loosely connected with 'Yankee' in our minds, and the distinction between what is and is not a Yankee is lost on us.

I am sure that at one time all Americans were Yankees, then we expanded away from the Northeast as we got more territory. So for us it became a descriptor for New Englanders, and for You guys it remained to describe all Americans. I love it! Words and how they are used.

Speaking of, I read a lot, in High School I got a mark off of a paper I wrote because I used the British spelling of "pyjamas" instead of the American way of "pajamas". But only one point as my teacher was impressed that I even thought to use that spelling. Although it was unconsciously done....

I'm sorry oumahexi, I know how to change it, I just want to know how you came up with your name.... What inspired it?

Ah, sorry, when you get to my age and find yourself recycling your brain cell every time you want to speak you'll understand how I missed that :D

OK, inspiration. That would be, erm, what were we talking about???

You don't know how many times, since I've joined the site, that I have misread people's questions. So much so, that i don't answer too many questions, because I have become embarrassed by it....

Hmmmm. I thought this could be a cool topic, cause I've wondered what makes you choose the descriptors you did. Maybe nobody puts as much thought into these things?

Thanks to Atomic Shrimp,Oumahexi, and Pauldohert for their responses! :)

I came up with mine becuase the Free Range Witch (Oumahexi) did a nice thing for me, hence I am now with the witch.

I have a "Smiley" that swims up and down, up and down, up and erm....down again. How can I attach that as an Avatar next to my Nomiker? I am 48 yrs old and "found" long distance open water swimming earlier this year. I'm not much good yet, but I get to swim alongside the likes of Natalie Du Toit and Chad Ho.....well for the first few seconds anyway.

Now, where would you do that in Johannesburg? Wemmer Pan? Florida Lake? The Vaal Dam?
