Actually, not unexpected. Queries get complex so tables don't have to.

I'm starting to see that this is actually a core point of relational databases.
I did not realize it for a while, I must admit.

With no shade being thrown in ANY direction, it is not uncommon for folks accustomed to using flat files including basic EXCEL to suddenly realize that more than two dimensions are possible in a database.
