NotinList problem

A notinlist combobox routine that is not working properly. When the notinlist event occurrs, I display a form to capture the multiple input fields. The problem is that once I add the record and return to the form with the combobox, I attempt to requery the combox control so that the item is no longer consider "notinthelist". I get the following error message:
Run-time error "2118"
"You must save the current field before you run the requery action.

Any assistance would be very much appreciated.
