Number of active users and guest users

Is it actually true that there are always over 700 guests on these forums?

It never seems to drop any lower.

Pretty much. If I look at my real time stats, there is often 150 to 200 people on the site at any one minute. The stats at the bottom of the forum show the totals for the last 15 minutes. Some sites show them for the last 60 minutes to inflate the figures. I won't mention any names.
