Hi,

can anyone advise on what has gone wrong? my VB side of access was working fine. writing code, the editor automatically filling in as i go along. then, it changed. it now keeps checking errors on every key stroke. all text turns red, i press space and it moves back, i put 1 " in and i automatically get "". also, i now do not get the prompt of objects to enter. can this be turned off? has my editor gone AWOL? its incredibly frustrating.

please help!!

A few things off the top of my head:

1) Check Accessibility Options in Control Panel and make sure you have Sticky Keys, Filter Keys, and Toggle Keys disabled. These little annoyances are defaulted to be on and they will cause all sorts of weirdness.

2) Did you try completely closing out of Access and then reopening and seeing if the problem still exists?

3) Did a key accidentally get stuck being pressed down? Sounds silly, but if your desk has a ton of crap all over it (and most desks do), I've seen where a key being inadvertently held down took 10-15 minutes of "debugging" to figure out.

4) Did you check Bob's suggestion?

5) Are you sure it's not possessed? ;)

Hi Guys,

funnily enough, i do have a timer on the said form but thought the timer would stop when i opened the editor and pressed stop. i think i will disengage the timer until i have finished and then re-start it once everything is complete.
i couldn't find accessibility options in my control panel but then im using Vista so might be name some snazzy cover version!
i also checked to see if it was possessed and that might also be the case! it never does things when i want it to, it seems to ignore the most basic commands and every now and then, freezes for no reason which forces me to press frantically on all of the buttons for some sort of response only to find that i have scuppered and chances if it recovering!

thanks :)
