Hi Guys

I am going to have two databases in two different regions (half way across the world) and i want them to synch up. I know how to do this. But what I want to know is if it is possible to synch them up offline (i.e. when nobody is currently using the database) so I can synch them up overnight automatically at a certain time (as the synch may take a while)

Many thanks for your help

David

Just schedule the synch in a windows scheduler someplace, offcourse you need the PC to be on at the scheduled time....

thats the thing, ideally, i would like the PC to be off.

Just out of interest, how can i create a windows scheduler to schedule a synch time?

Just use the scheduler found in the control panel and schedule the command prompt...

Find out from the Access help how to use the command prompt to trigger macro's and such...

My PC runs very, very slowly when it's turned off. I'm almost tempted to be believe that it doesn't work at all...

lol, true, but as the backend of the database is going to be on a server, so i was hoping that it could automaticly synch up through some sort of method :(

Nope you cannot, unless you can schedule it on the server... for which you need admin rights on the server which most people dont have.

Also you need to have Access (run-time) installed on that server to run your app. Most server admins are very *hessitant* to install sh*t like Access on their servers...
