I cannot get the ON FORMAT event to fire! I have even tried so much as adding a msgbox to make sure that it is firing and it will not.

I can get my unbound label to populate in the ON PAINT event, but in a big report this causes everything to freeze. The ON PAINT event isn't the right event anyways.

Anybody have any idea what's going on?

What version? The format event does not fire in 2007 in the new report view.

Thanks! I'm sorry, yes I am using 2007. Should I use a different view? The idea is for the user to look over the report ( I have it as popup so it's dummy proof) and then print.

You are correct, I just checked it out in Print Preview and it worked. Strange, but I guess if there is no other way, I will open it in print preview for the user. Kinda hard to do a print audit trail that way, is there any way to use the ON FORMAT in regular view?

Amen that. The report view doesn't display a report correctly - at all. I still don't know what the "new" (and improved?) report view is supposed to do - since I've switched over, I've never clicked this button once I noticed these behaviors. Print Preview all the way ...

The new view is interactive, so you can put buttons and such on it. I have one application I used it where I put an option group at the top so users could change the selections/sorting. It basically performs like a form.

Hmmmm. Guess I hung it out to dry to early ...

My first run-in was I added some fields to a form and it did not present properly until I went to a different view. I abandoned it after that - guess I was to preoccupied with learning the ropes than exploring a bit. Thanks for the hot info!

In other news .... I reread Rand over the holidays. In no way, based on my perception of Angelina Jolie that has been provided to me, have I observed or could I feel any connection between her and Taggart. Then again, I could be wrong ...

That was my off-the-cuff impression as well, but I guess we'll have to wait and see. I just Googled to see if any progress has been made on the movie (doesn't appear to be) and Wikipedia says Jolie and Pitt are both fans of Rand's work, so who knows? I'm way overdue for a reread of the book myself.
