Hi All,

I am trying to produce one report from information contained within 4 different tables, the only common factor within each table is the date field but they are totally unrelated. So far I have created a query on 1 table and this looks up the date in 1 table OK works fine. But I do not know how to creat 1 query that will search 4 tables and generate 1 report from it. How do I do this, should I create 4 indiviual queries and run a macro and look at 4 seperate reports?

Any Help greatly received

Thanks:confused:

Are you saying you want some info from each table to show in each record in the report, like Sales dollars for the day from one table and count of employees who worked that day from another or are you looking to do sub-reports where you'll have 4 different reports within a main report?

You're exactly right! The main criteria across the 4 tables is the date, I have very little experience of doing sub reports I have played a bit over the past couple of days but I cannot get the layout of the report right, it seems to duplicate the records in the main report and sub report?*! When creating the sub report where should I place it (Drag & Drop) in the Header, detail or footer? Any further help greatly appreciated!

Thanks again

Generally, I put sub reports in the detail section.
But where you put them is totally dependent on the use you're trying
to put them to.
If you're getting duplicate info, then do you have the control source for
the main report duplicated in a sub report?
IMHO, avoid sub reports if you can. They are very limiting unless you're
willing and able to write vb code to create an overall report that presents
the data the way you really want it.
That being said, I recently finished a project that took over 350 hours to complete and about 60 hours of that involved creating a report with over 25 sub reports. That was worth it because we now save between 25 and 30 hours per week by automatically generating this report.
