Open a table from URL

I don't know how to open a Recordset (ADO or DAO ) using a file situated on another computer . I know there is posible using a URL scheme for the source. I don't understand the example from Access help, so I will be glad if somebody can help me whith details or some examples.
I would like to open a "xls" file from the other computer.
