I have a mde-file on local network and an intranet which links to the file.

I don´t know how to make it to DAP pages (have other database which is but this one is more complex).

Is there any place in internet explorer or windows regfile I can change for us to open the database without needing always be asked about if I wan´t to open/save the file.

Using access2000 and winXP.

Not that wouldn't give your network security officer serious cardiac palpitations if not worse. This would be a MAJOR breach of security if you tried to do this with any other file, and I don't think IE (much less the registry) will care that it is an .MDB or .MDE or anything else in that vein. The problem would be to tell IE to do this special behavior only to .MDE files, and let's just say if you were on my network, my first answer would be "not only no but HELL NO."

You need to make it into something like ADP that will use the file locally on the server running IIS. Which brings us to round 2 of questionable security behavior. I'm not going there, though. This is definitely a security issue that you and your network staff need to discuss.

Answer no I guess then.

Was hoping it could be an easy way like changing something in the ie´s security for local adresses but neither the experts here or google seems to say so.

Doing some sewere hacking is not worth it for saving two mouseclicks :-) Just have to tell my collegues that they have to accept it.

Thanks!

I don´t get the difference in security issues by using IE to open a file instead of explorer like we do now? Both files is on the network today and has been for several years now and our network guys do know of this and have said nothing. So SHUT UP! about security if you don´t care about explaining why. Not all is network specialist, thats why I can´t use ADP or IIS and is stuck with using access like it is.
