Question: Using Access with Citrix

Hello acces experts.

I have a database created in MS Access 2007. I have put the database as a mdb-file in a server to make many computers able to use the database.
The problem is that, the database can only be open at once, in one computer.
I'm able to connect to the server and see the database, but when I click on it twice to open it again, nothing happens. Not even an error message.
Does anyone know how I can get several computer to be able to work on the databse at the same time?

Thanks in advance

Thank you for the link. It's a little messy to find out exactly what I need and I could not find out how to make multiply users to be able to use the database at the same time, since the thread contained more advantages and disadvantages on using Citrix.
(I need to go now, but look forward to see replies tomorrow)

Thanks in advance

Hi, Is it another way than splitting the database into tables and forms etc.?

No one knows how I can solve this?

If your using access the above are your only options over a network to be honest... having not used a citrix server system I cannot advise on this but depending on how many users will be connected you may even need to upscale to SQL.

I think what you are trying to accomplish may be beyond an average access user/creators ability and should seek an experts help on site.

Repost the question with the title: "Question: Using Access with Citrix"

and you might get a better response. (I've not used it that way myself, but there are those here who have but your initial question is a bit misleading).

Can't change the name for the whole thread only my posts. Can a moderator please change the title to "Question: Using Access with Citrix"

I would just post a new thread. It is okay in this case due to the nature of things. :)

having just upgraded to 2007 myself check your access settings there is a tab to select how you want to open the file i.e. 'open exclusive' this could be part of the problem

This is the second posting regarding Citrix and the more I hear about Citrix I'm glad I went for a Terminal Server, it just a much robust solution. There is no remote access to the data just locally to the Terminal Server. All the data calls are local. Fast, piece of cake for Access, no re-programming and no delays. I've even seen users vacate interrupt active Terminal Server session only to re-join at another desk.

Up-speed was issue but that only because we were dealing with about 17,000 (50-100KB) image files.
