Is it possible to find open source access databases on the web? I'm supposed to make a database, but I will not be able to do it due to lack of skills and time...

Oh come on Rich let's be optimistic here. Little late for an assignment for school I would think. Surely no one would be stupid enough to tyr to pass off someone's work as their own, especially to an instructor. I mean, it would be too easy to spot. Let's see if he/she posts back. If he/she doesn't you win.

Here's my take,
If you're going pirate someone else's work, at least go find it yourself.
I mean, we are talking about the internet here for crying out loud. If you can't find a .mdb file on the entire internet w/o posting to a forum, then how in the world did you meet the minimum req to take the class??

Damn it. Now we'll never find out whether kentendresen was really trying to copy someone else's work or just really in a bind. Sambo surely scared them off. I mean I wouldn't pony up now if I were them. Oh well, on to more improtant things I guess.

Why not. I've got two cents.

Kent has been on this Forum for a couple of months. I don't
know if he's a student or not, but there are plenty of sample
databases right here. He even references one of HIS in his
posts.

Oh well ...

Why did I ask here if I just wanted to pirate somebody else work? I guess it is bad to be honest in the 21th century.

I'm supposed to make a database which contains a lot of questions and where the users can enter and take a multiple choice test. It is quite hard to explain, and it seems like the response is very negative, so I'll put some more effort in it if somebody has some good ideas.

Kent,

Sometimes (especially with students) we resent having
someone ask if we will do their work for them. Stating that
you didn't have the time or skills set off a few flags.

Obviously we don't mind helping at all.

You seemingly have a database:

http://www.access-programmers.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=37627

I'll read that thread. In the meantime, please specify what
the deficiencies are with your current database.

Hey, Kent comes through after all. My faith in human kind is validated.

I looked through all of the sites that I frequent and couldn't find anything that meets your needs. I checked UtterAccess, Candice Tripp's, Helen Feddema's, Roger's Access Library and The Access Web. Perhaps someone else knows of where you might locate a sample.

Good luck,

Always the skeptic Rich...

I do this against my best judgement, but here you go.

Samples

Scroll to Microsoft Access

Rich.. I yield to your authority. Say the word and I'll delete this post.

My boss told me to make it...

And Yes, I have started and have a database, and No, I'm not a student!

I've already got some help from this forum, but it is all over my head, I don't know where to put the suggested code!

I'll try to explain in the next post from me!

And thank you sambo, I'll check it out now!

Tell your boss to get lost, no I guess not:mad:
I'm sure PatHartman has posted the structure for this type of db here, I don't have the link but you can search for posts by the member.

Search for Survey also, there have been many posts on the subject, and many answers by Pat.

Here are some of the problems I'm facing right now:

1. I don't know where to put the code which is suggested from you smart guys. Jim Brooking has given me some code, and I think it will work if I know where to put it.

2. The users (pilots actually) shall have the opportunity to take a test with 30 random questions. The database has hundreds of questions, but how can the 'system' pick out 30 of these, randomly and put them in the form?

3. How to make reports of this mess. On closed book tests we need hardcopies of the questions, and a 'webmaster' shall have the opportunity to pick out the questions he wants and put these in a report who will be the 'hardcopy' of the test.

4. More to come, I hope some of you are online next weekend...

BR,

Kent
