Opening Excel through Access

I would like to open an instance of Excel, but no workbook in particular, therefore, by default, Book1 would be the worksheet to open up. Upon opening excel, I would like to run an excel macro, and then close excel. I've searched for this but haven't found a way to open up excel.

Any and all help is and will be greatly appreciated.
